Paasch is survived by five nieces and one nephew - Charleen Paasch of San Antonio Noreen Sippel and Almida Suhr of New Braunfels, Elsie Haverlah of Kenedy, Edna Gerhold and Robert Freye of Yoakum. Paasch enjoyed a simple life, and he touched the lives of those who knew him in a positive manner. Shortly before his death, he commented to one of his nieces that he had a lot to be thankful for that he could still see some, hear a little, enjoy eating and enjoy visitors until his last day. He could still win nearly every domino game at the convalescent home in New Braunfels. His hobbies were playing cards and dominoes. Paasch had six brothers and five sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. When his last brother, George Paasch, passed away, John moved to Autumn Hills Convalescent Home in Columbus until he moved to New Braunfels in September 1984. Paasch and his brothers and sisters had een engaged in farming and ranching near Frelsburg where he was born and lived until May 1977.
